It’s going to be a soggy weekend on B.C.’s South Coast.
Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning in the region for Saturday, saying “significant rainfall” is expected to fall.
Lighter showers Friday are expected to give way to heavy deluges Saturday, with 40 to 60 mm of rain predicted. The precipitation isn’t expected to let up for many days.
The agency says the early season storm approaching the coast is “entraining moisture from the subtropics” and will drench the area throughout the weekend.
Gusty winds from the south can also be expected over Vancouver and western parts of the Fraser Valley on Saturday.
Environment Canada says the rainfall warning could be extended to additional regions as rainfall may exceed 75 mm over 48 hours.
