West Kelowna Mounties are looking for a man accused of stealing donation money meant to support veterans and sick kids.

Since Oct. 31, four businesses have reported having unknown amounts of cash stolen from donation boxes for the Legion’s poppy fund, according to police.

In each case, a man enters the business and takes off with the donation box while staff is distracted, Const. Kris Clark said in a news release.

Mounties have released a picture and surveillance video of a suspect in hopes the public can help identify the man.

Anyone with information regarding the man’s identity is asked to call RCMP at 250-768-2880 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The Legion’s poppy fund boxes are placed at various businesses across the country each year to raise money for veterans and the Ronald McDonald House, which supports seriously ill children.

The fundraiser ends Nov. 11.
