Two poisonous arrows from a Maasai tribe in Kenya might have a new home at the University of British Columbia after a concerned citizen turned them over to police.
The RMCP said it received the arrows from a North Vancouver senior who was concerned about the antique weapons and thought they should be destroyed.
The man was given the arrows by his late father, who brought them home from Africa in the 1940s. Police said they aren’t sure exactly how or why they were initially acquired.
“I’m sure there is an intriguing story behind these two arrows,” Cpl. Richard De Jong said in a news release.
Rather than destroy the artifacts, Mounties contacted UBC's Museum of Anthropology, which will be taking a look at the arrows and determining whether to add them to its archives.
