The pilot of a float plane that crashed on the Fraser River near Langley swum to safety on a nearby island Wednesday morning.
The pilot, a student, was picked up by the Albion Ferry after a hair-raising descent.
Just after 11 a.m., she sent out a mayday as her plane was landing, according to the Langley RCMP.
The plane's starboard wing clipped the water and snapped off, and then the plane itself flipped, said Cpl. Peter Theissen.
But the pilot climbed out of the cockpit and was rescued, uninjured, this morning, said Theissen.
