A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Surrey early Saturday morning.

The man was crossing the road at King George Boulevard and 108 Avenue at about 3 a.m., when he was hit.

He was rushed to Royal Columbian Hostpial in critical condition, but has since died.

Police are trying to figure out who had right of way at the time.

The driver stayed at the scene, and police say he is not under arrest.

“Alcohol is not a factor,” said Sgt. Mike Sanchez with Surrey RCMP. “Speed is yet to be determined.”

King George Boulevard was closed Saturday morning, while police investigated.
