'Overwhelmed' breeder surrenders labradoodle puppies to B.C. SPCA
An "overwhelmed" breeder in the Kootenays has surrendered 11 labradoodle puppies to the B.C. SPCA, according to the organization.
The five-month-old puppies were under-socialized and showed signs of neglect when they were taken into the charity's care.
“This is yet another case of a breeder who bred dogs and now can’t find homes for them and can’t afford their care,” said Jamey Blair, the B.C. SPCA's manager for northern B.C. and the Kootenays.
“When the puppies arrived at our community animal centre, they were fearful, trembling and urinating, and we could not ignore the strong odour of feces and urine emanating from them."
The puppies were bathed, vaccinated, and treated for parasites and will soon be properly groomed and ready for adoption.
"They have come a long way in a short period of time," Blair said.
“They play so nicely together. It has been such a joy to watch them come out of their shells. We are starting to see them show more of their personalities.”
