A 24-year-old Nanaimo, B.C., man is facing charges in connection with possession of child pornography after police in the United Kingdom alerted RCMP to his online activities last year.
Investigators believe the suspect was using his computer to communicate with a male in the United Kingdom and that the two were exchanging images and participating in various chat rooms. Police would not say the age of the second person.
RCMP carried out a search of the suspect's apartment on Tuesday and found various hard drives, video images and storage devices that have now been sent for analysis.
The man was arrested at the scene and is facing charges of possession of child pornography and making child pornography available.
He's been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 15, 2011. He is prohibited from having any contact with children under the age of 13.
