A missing surfer has turned up safe and uninjured, but unwilling to explain where she was while a rescue team scoured the coast of Vancouver Island looking for her.

RCMP Cpl. Darren Lagan said police have concluded their investigation into the whereabouts of 22-year-old Bianca Marie Sinclair after she arrived home Thursday afternoon.

Search and rescue officials had been searching beaches, rocky outcrops and waters since Wednesday, when co-workers reported Sinclair missing.

"She's apparently not very appreciative of our efforts," Lagan said.

"I seriously doubt we're going to be able to explain what she was doing, but that's her private business."

Three helicopters, a plane and the Mounties' marine services were involved in the search, covering 2,2,00 nautical kilometres, between Ucluelet and Estevan Point.

The search of cold, rough and choppy waters began after police searched the place she'd been staying and found her ID but not her surf board or wetsuit.

Police said she was reported to have said Sunday she was going surfing and was last seen Monday by an acquaintance. Officials had just ordered search-and-rescue teams to stand down and moved on to checking new leads on land when she showed up at her home.

RCMP also ended the search for a missing recreational diver along the province's central coast, about 700 kilometres north of Vancouver, with no sign of the 45-year-old.

Teams completed a thorough grid search of Kwatna Inlet, near Bella Coola, and have no further underwater searches planned.
