The Indo Canadian community is in mourning again, after another father and husband was officially charged with murdering his wife, and attempting to kill his daughter.
The phone lines lit up at Radio India in Surrey Wednesday morning as callers reacted in shock to news another Indo-Canadian woman has been murdered, and a daughter critically injured by gunshots
"The main point is. Why has a gun?.. Deplorable,'' said Radio India host Harpreet Singh.
The incident began shortly after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday when police surrounded a house in Surrey's Newton area.
At the time, CTV reported seeing 53-year-old Harpaljit Singh also known as Paul Singh, being led out of the house in handcuffs.
His wife Manjit died inside the house from gunshot wounds, his daughter Sabrina a second year nursing student, was also shot and is in critical condition in Royal Columbian Hospital.
Harpaljit Sandhu has been charged with second degree, and attempted murder.
The Sandhu's were supposed to be moving at the end of this month back to Penticton where Harpaljit owns a taxi service. But on Wednesday, no one at the office was talking.
Neighbors say Manjit worked as care aid at a seniors home in White Rock.
Daughter Sabrina was well liked by neighborhood children.
