Employees of a Vancouver Island sawmill made their emotional return to work Tuesday, nearly a week after a deadly shooting that claimed two lives.
Nanaimo’s Western Forest Products Mill opened its gates once again after a suspect opened fire last Wednesday morning, killing two men and badly injuring two more.
Friends and families also arrived at the mill Tuesday morning in a show of support.
“I think it’s very important. Life does go on, and these guys need some, they’re gonna need some help in getting through this too,” said Marcy Lunn, the daughter of Michael Lunn, who was shot and killed last week.
“I wish my dad was here though because he was always the life of the party,” she said. “Family is everything.”
Employees were given the chance to speak with a counsellor before returning to work.
Funerals for shooting victims Lunn and Fred McEachern will be held this Saturday.
Kevin Addison, 47, faces murder and attempted murder charges in connection with the shooting. He was set to appear in court later Tuesday.
