VANCOUVER -- Premier Gordon Campbell says the B.C. legislature will be recalled as soon as possible to deal with the financing crisis facing the 2010 Olympic village in Vancouver.

He says government lawyers are drafting legislation to amend the Vancouver Charter to allow the city to borrow more than $450 million to finish the project.

He says the legislature will be recalled to deal with the issue before its scheduled resumption on February 10th.

The city was left on the hook for the athlete's village after New York financiers pulled out of a loan deal because of cost overruns.

Campbell says it's an urgent situation and he hopes the legislation gets speedy passage in the legislature.

He also denies Olympic costs have spiralled out of control, saying Olympic organizers have delivered most of their venues ahead of time and on budget.
