Teens living in B.C.'s Sea-to-Sky corridor have more than one reason to look forward to the upcoming 2010 Olympic Games.
Not only will youngsters get two weeks off of school during the Olympics, but they're also in high demand by Vancouver's Olympic Organizing Committee.
VANOC announced Tuesday it is inviting teenagers, who live an hour or less outside of Whistler, to sign up for volunteering opportunities.
Its new "Youth Participation Program" has about 250 spots for young residents between the ages of 15 to 19 to work in customer service roles or help stage events during the games.
Preferrence will be given to sports participants, who are members of a sports club or who have competition experience.
Prospective volunteers are required to form a team of 10 - plus an adult chaperone - before they sign up.
"We're looking for enthusiasm, dedication and a commitment to demonstrating the very best of Canada and what we all represent," says VANOC's executive vice president Donna Wilson.
