Police have arrested 40-year-old sex offender James Conway after he allegedly breached his conditions on public transit.
The convict boarded a TransLink bus in Surrey Tuesday morning and sat beside a 14-year-old girl even though there were other seats available, according to Transit Police.
One of Conway’s 27 release conditions states he can’t sit next to anyone who appears to be under 18 years old on TransLink property.
Officers arrested him shortly after without incident.
Conway is known for targeting girls, and in April 2014 was arrested for looking down young SkyTrain passengers’ shirts and using a teddy bear to try and talk to them.
He was sentenced to 10 months in jail and three years’ probation.
Conway’s release into Surrey last week sparked outrage from community groups and Mayor Linda Hepner, who argued there should be stronger protections in place for residents.
