Travellers trying to return home from Easter vacations are advised to take it easy if they're driving through southern British Columbia.

A heavy dump of snow has left many highways slushy and slippery.

The worst area is the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt where white-out conditions are reported and chains are a good idea -- if travel is absolutely necessary.

As well, BC Ferries says the 7:45 a.m. sailing from Tsawwassen to Duke Point, near Nanaimo, has been cancelled -- although no reason was given for the problem.
