The little mystery dog found badly beaten has pawed his way back to health and is ready to be adopted, according to the Squamish SPCA.

Harold, a tiny, wire-haired dachshund mix, has pulled off a miraculous recovery thanks to the generosity of strangers across the country.

Squamish residents and people from B.C. and the rest of Canada donated $6,290 in total for Harold, covering the determined pup’s care costs.

“We’ve been blown away by the public’s kindness and generosity,” Squamish SPCA branch manager Marika Donnelly said in a release. “We are so grateful to everyone who gave and to everyone who contacted us about giving Harold a forever home.”

Harold was found wandering a rural road just outside the Squamish District more than a week ago with horrible bruises and injuries that resulted in two surgeries.

It’s not clear what caused his injuries, but it’s believed they were a few weeks old.

Now, the “lively guy” will likely be adopted as early as next week, according to Donnelly.
