Only a day before the second largest Lotto 6-49 draw in Canadian history, a 41-year-old Burnaby grocery store clerk is the province's newest multi-millionaire.
Raymond Knopper matched all six numbers on his BC/49 ticket to win the top $2 million prize.
The 41-year-old, who has stocked shelves at Real Canadian Superstore for the last 19 years, says he has no intentions of going back to work.
"I'm not going to work the night shift anymore so that's great," Knopper said.
He says he plans on buying a new house, but not before doing some serious relaxing.
"Some traveling plans -- get away for a while and really think about things. Wow," Knopper told CTV.
"I have the opportunity to do whatever I want to do and that's great."
Handing over the big cheque, B.C. Lottery Corporation President Mike Graydon told Knopper "the big one is hard to put in the ATM."
Tuesday's announcement is a happy one, but really only a drop in the bucket compared to what's coming up tomorrow.
After no one brought forward a winning ticket in Saturday's draw, Wednesday's Lotto 6-49 jackpot is worth an estimated $49 million.
"It's spectacular," Graydon said. "Sales are fast and furious and we're very hopeful the big winner will be here in British Columbia."
"When you get to $49 million it certainly catches lots of people's attention and you get a lot of users who don't normally buy tickets. It's been terrific."
The draw only falls $6 million short of the country's largest ever jackpot of $54 million.
That 2005 take was shared by 17 oil and gas workers in Camrose, Alberta.
The massive jackpot seems to be gathering more attention than usual due to a tough economy.
"People are searching for a form of escapism," Teresa Roncon, spokesperson for the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, told CTV News.
There's still time to get your piece of the dream. Tickets, which cost $2, are still available until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.
The odds of matching all six numbers is approximately one in almost 14 million. If that sounds a little unrealistic you can always vie for the $5 prize, with a one in 81 chance.
