In its opening statements this morning, the prosecutors in the kidnapping case of Graham McMynn outlined for the first time what the 23-year-old went through at the hands of his captors.
April 3 2006
McMynn leaves his home in Southlands with his girlfriend, and headed to classes at UBC. At an intersection on Blenheim, he sees a car facing him. The vehicle followed him, making McMynn nervous enough to drive through a stop sign -- but the car eventually disappeared.

The next day, McMynn left Southlands with his girlfriend, but this time was cut off by a silver Honda Civic. Two men got out, and the one that came to the driver's side of the vehicle had a red baseball cap and a gun.
McMynn was told to get out of the car, and get into the Civic. The other man told the girlfriend to get out and give up her cell phone. The captors took off with McMynn, leaving her girlfriend at the scene. She memorizes a license plate 032 GDS, and borrows a woman's cell phone and calls 911.
McMynn was taken to a street off Marine Drive, and put in a minivan. He said the two men in the car had guns, and if he did anything he would be shot. His wallet and glasses were taken, and he was forced to lie in the back of the van, blindfolded with duct tape that was wrapped around his head.
Then he was taken to a house at 310 West 44th Avenue. First, he was put in a garage, and then put in a large closet. He was there for three days.
April 5-7 2006
Blindfolded, McMynn was told to take his clothes off. When he asked why, he was told "so we can rape you." In his underwear he is handcuffed and feet are tied with zap straps.
During that time, various kidnappers referred to each other by numbers. After some time, McMynn began to recognize their voices and came to believe there were six people. The first kidnapper had high pitched voice, and often complained about eye problems. This man guarded him the most. Prosecutors said this man was Jose Hernandez.
McMynn's captors threatened to cut off his hands and kill him, his family and girlfriend. That was enough to convince McMynn he shouldn't escape, even though he had his chances.
McMynn's second kidnapper was a man named Nyguen, prosecutors said. This man threatened to shoot him. And the third kidnapper had a Chinese accent, and threatened to kill McMynn if the ransom was not paid.
McMynn was told the group was hired and would be paid $100,000. Another group was to get the ransom money. The group said they were professionals and had done this before. One man claimed to be a hit man.
April 7-10 2006
McMynn was moved to a second house, on 13996 115 A Avenue, Surrey. The house was being renovated at the same time McMynn was held there. McMynn was held there for another several days.
April 10-11 2006
McMynn moved again to third house 14612 76th Avenue, Surrey. He was fed two Big Mac hamburgers. He was there for one and a half days.
April 12
In a daylight sting, officers surrounded the house, entered the home, and rescued McMynn after eight days of captivity. The men found inside were brought out of the house and arrested.
