Police have ruled out foul play almost two weeks after a group of middle-school-aged children found a body in a South Surrey ditch.

The body was found by 12- and 13-year-olds on Nov. 26, as they walked along 176 Street between 40th and 32th avenues.

Members of the Surrey RCMP were called to the scene, but could not immediately confirm the cause of death. They said it appeared that the body had been in the water-filled ditch for some time.

Mounties will not be releasing more information about the deceased, saying only that they do not believe foul play was involved.
