Fire officials said it was a difficult fire to fight because they had problems getting their large truck into the complex, and were forced to rely on sending hoses up the structure with fire fighters.
Three fire fighters were injured.
The fire was contained to one suite on the top floor of the complex.
Guildford Way was closed to westbound traffic between Johnson Street and Pine Tree Way for several hours while crews battled the fire.
