Victoria Police and the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit are investigating a fatal shooting involving a RCMP officer at the Duncan Trailer Park Sunday night.
It happened just after 6:00 p.m. on March 1st after police responded to an abandoned 911 call from a residence in the trailer park. When officers arrived, they found a 39-year-old man armed with a knife inside the trailer. Police say a senior officer spoke to the man to but negotiations failed to calm him down, and they jolted him with a Taser gun, "without success".
A senior officer then shot the man, who later died at Cowichan District Hospital.
The man's immediate family was notified by police, and has requested respect to their privacy, and that his identity be withheld to allow them time to notify all family.
It is not known what led up to the incident.
