The death of a 15-year-old boy in East Vancouver has been deemed a homicide, police say.
Officers were called to a home on East 24th Avenue near Rupert Street just before 3 p.m. on Sunday after Jason Nguyen was found by a family member with serious injuries.
The teenager was rushed to the hospital, but he died on the operating table.
Nguyen was found in the home that he lived, police say, but it’s not believed that any family members were involved.
VPD Major Crime Section detectives have been called in to investigate the murder, which marks Vancouver’s ninth of 2015. Police believe the attack was targeted, and are looking into the boy’s background.
The weapon involved in Nguyen’s death has not been disclosed by police.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vancouver Police at (604)717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
