CTV Vancouver's flagship newscast CTV News at Six with Tamara Taggart and Mike Killeen has been named the Best Newscast in British Columbia by RTDNA Canada, The Association of Electronic Journalists.
The prestigious award was announced Saturday night at the RTDNA B.C. Region Awards banquet at the Executive Suites Hotel and Conference Centre in Burnaby. CTV News at Six received the Bert Cannings Awards for the best large market newscast in B.C.
This is the fourth year in a row that the Bert Cannings Award has gone to CTV News at Six and extends a remarkable unbeaten streak for the anchor team of Tamara Taggart, Mike Killeen, sportscaster Perry Solkowski and meteorologist Michael Kuss.
CTV News Director Les Staff, Assistant News Director Ethan Faber and Senior Producer Rhonda Fuller were also on hand for the award presentation.
The RTDNA chose CTV News Vancouver for several other awards. Reporters Brent Gilbert and St. John Alexander won for Best Short and Long Feature Reporting, Gary Rutherford won for Best Use of Video and CTV's First Story producer Allan Hopkins won the RTDNA's Best News Information Program award.
Finally, CTV's very own Mike McCardell won for best editorial of the year.
