Getting queasy on rides
Jose asked Steele on Your Side how many times people get sick on the rides.
While the PNE says it doesn't keep stats on this, reports from past years have found there are up to 1,300 incidents of vomiting yearly at the Fair. Keep in mind that doesn't include all the people who feel queasy after the rides.
Motion sickness can hit all ages, but adults are more likely to suffer from it.
Believe it or not, the wooden roller coaster is one of the rides your less likely to get sick on. It's actually the spinning rides and rides with repeated wave motions that are most likely to result in a "protein spill.”
If you feel ill on a ride, close your eyes so you can't see the horizon moving. You can also lower the risk of motion sickness by drinking lots of water and staying away from fat and sugary foods. Of course, that’s sometimes easier said than done.
Baby barn animals
Margaret says she enjoys the farm exhibit at the PNE and wants to know how many baby chicks hatch there every year.
While the farm exhibit houses the largest variety of barn animals in Vancouver, the baby chicks are a favourite and draw a large crowd.
More than 150 chicks will hatch at the PNE annually. They're not the only ones that will take first steps at the Fair. On average, nine calves are born during the PNE each year.
