A lawsuit has now been filed in the collapse of an Abbotsford church floor during a Christian rock concert almost two weeks ago.
Two sisters, who were among the injured, are suing the B.C. Conference of the Mennonite Brethren Churches and United Productions, the promoters of the rock group Starfield.
A statement of claim filed in British Columbia Supreme Court says 17-year-old Sarah Williams suffered traumatic brain injury, concussion and other injuries, while her 18-year-old sister Jennifer had injuries to her left arm, bruises, abrasions and suffered nervous shock.
About 40 people were hurt when the floor of the Central Heights Mennonite Brethren Church gave way, dropping concert-goers into the basement below.
The person who suffered the worst injuries in that collapse was Debbie Helsloot.
After a week in intensive care, the mother of three is now on the spinal unit of Vancouver General Hospital with little feeling in her legs.
Doctors have warned the family she has a tough road ahead.
Her family is praying she'll be able to one day walk again.
