The B.C. Civil Liberties Association wants the Crown to drop polygamy charges against two men accused of having multiple wives.
The association has looked over the 19th-century law Winston Blackmore and James Oler are charged with, and says the case against the two men will fail.
The men are spiritual leaders in the southeast B.C. community of Bountiful.
Blackmore is accused of having 19 wives, while Oler is alleged to have two wives.
The association says it has long been concerned about allegations of child abuse and sexual interference sometimes said to be connected to polygamy, but says going ahead with the court case is ill advised.
