Top members of British Columbia's government are heading to Ottawa this week to press for new laws that will make it easier to fight organized crime. Premier Gordon Campbell says the Federal Government needs to find ways to seize cars with guns in them and confiscate armored vehicles.
"We have to redraft our criminal code. We have to use 21st century tools to fight the gangs in the 21st century,'' Campbell said.
B.C Attorney General Wally Oppal agrees.
"The Parliament of Canada could change the law and say that it would be unlawful to have a gun regardless of knowledge or not,'' he said. "They could do that."
The Premier says those are part of a host of measures the Attorney-general and the Solicitor General will ask for next week.
