New Democrat Leader Carole James is looking to the other side of the legislature for support in the vote against the harmonized sales tax.

James says she needs eight Liberals to vote with the New Democrats against the proposed HST to kill the tax.

She hasn't had any contact with Liberal MLAs about the HST, but says Independent MLA Vicki Huntington has already said she opposes the tax.

The current standings in the B.C. legislature are: 49 Liberals, 35 New Democrats and one Independent.

James says their attacks against the HST will continue because she believes intense political and public pressure could force the Liberals to change course on the tax.

The NDP leader takes her anti-HST campaign to the Okanagan today to communities that virtually shunned the New Democrats during the May election which saw the Campbell Liberals elected to a third-straight term.
