Two B.C. guys didn't need a trip to Vegas to strike it big – they just needed a BC lotto ticket.
Cousins Travis Fritz and Kurt Jankowski from Victoria won an easy $1 million from the lotto ticket they bought at the River Rock Casino in Richmond, B.C., on June 10 before heading to Las Vegas on a gambling trip.
"We thought that if we went broke in Vegas we always had a shot to make some more money," Fritz said Thursday in a press conference.
Jankowski found out first that the two 22-year-olds had lucked out big time, and had some trouble telling his buddy.
"Travis hung up on me twice," Jankowski said. "I finally had to go over to his place and show him the ticket before he would believe me. Now we're looking at investments."
After no one won last Friday's $50 million jackpot, this week's jackpot is estimated at $95 million.
