A large grow-op has been discovered just south of Clearwater in the Interior.

RCMP seized over 1,000 plants in a machine shed on a rural property.

A 53-year-old man and 46-year-old woman face various charges.

Police say the heavy-duty electrical system serving the shed was likely installed during the original construction of the building.

The investigation was initiated when officers noted an odour of marijuana in the area while conducting routine patrols. The grow-op was discovered on Monday after RCMP executed a search warrant.

In addition to the plants officers seized a small quantity of marijuana bud, a rifle and associated growing equipment.

The two suspects are due to appear in court in April.
