Four days after Kienan Hebert vanished from his family home just 20 minutes from the Alberta border, the Prairie province has issued an Amber Alert.

A B.C.-wide alert has been in effect since Wednesday, the day the boy's parents in Sparwood discovered he was missing. Though there has been widespread coverage of the disappearance in Alberta, Mounties in the province only issued their own official alert Saturday morning.

The alert means the information about Kienan's disappearance has been posted on the Alberta Emergency Alert website, the official Emergency Alert Facebook page and on electronic highway signs.

Alberta's alert came just hours before Mounties confirmed Kienan had not walked away from his family home in his sleep on Tuesday night, but was abducted from the residence.

They also announced that a second investigation was underway into another abduction attempt in Sparwood that occurred the same night – though no other details have been released.

Kienan is believed to be with Randall Hopley, a 46-year-old man from Sparwood. He is described as 5-10, 147 lbs. with brown hair, hazel eyes and a birthmark along his hairline.

He is believed to be driving a brown 1987 Toyota Camry with licence plate 098 RAL. Police advise the public not to approach Hopley's vehicle if they see it.
