Fans who can't shell out for tickets or travel to away games can still take part in the Vancouver Canucks' 50/50 draw.

The team announced a new online raffle on Monday, giving fans across the province the opportunity to buy tickets from the comfort of their couch.

The new raffle, which fans can enter on PlayNow.com, is technically separate from the draws that take place at games, but will be available on all game days.

Because those who enter online will be eligible to win half the pot collected from other fans entering from home, the potential jackpots could be higher than those won at the games.

While Rogers Arena holds 18,860 fans, the online draws are open to anyone in the province, not just those in attendance on game day.

The move also benefits Canucks for Kids, a fund set up by the team that supports children's health and wellness, grassroots hockey development and education. The money raised from the draws is split between the Canucks Autism Network, Canuck Place Children's Hospice, BC Children's Hospital foundation and other charities.

The draw is the first online partnership in the country between a provincial lottery corporation and a charity, a news release from the Canucks said.

"The Canucks are B.C.'s team so we're very excited to include fans all over the province in this opportunity to support their community, while also giving everyone a chance to win exciting 50/50 jackpots," said Paolo Aquilini, the board chair for Canucks for Kids.

Aquilini said that the fund has raised more than $52 million for children's charities over three decades.
