Four people are dead following three separate accidents that occurred across B.C. on the province’s second annual Family Day holiday.
The first victim, identified as a 60-year-old Saanich man, was killed Monday morning north of Victoria. Police said his truck crossed a concrete barrier on the Pat Bay Highway and rammed a car head-on.
The crash closed traffic on the highway for several hours.
Another fatal collision between a truck and car followed in Kamloops. Authorities say the occupants of the truck survived but the driver of the car was killed.
The final tragedy took place in Deroche, a small farming community east of Vancouver, where two people died after their sedan crashed down a steep embankment just west of Loughheed Highway and Brooks Road.
Police said road conditions have been poor in the area but investigators are still trying to confirm the cause of the crash.
None of the four victims’ names have been released.
