Two snowmobilers have died in as many days in collisions in B.C.'s wilderness.

In the most recent crash, a 44-year-old man from the Kootenays town of Elko died Monday afternoon after colliding with a wooden jump used by cyclists during the summer.

He was wearing a helmet at the time, but the force of the crash was so strong that it cracked and the victim died from a severe head injury. He was with two friends at the time.

One day before, another snowmobiler was killed in a crash on an island in the middle of Eena Lake, northwest of Prince George. The victim was a 44-year-old Prince George man.

RCMP are continuing to investigate the causes of both crashes.
