If you’re feeling lucky, take note: Friday evening’s Lotto Max is at $55 million, the biggest draw in Canadian history.
This record-breaking draw is not by chance -- in early July the B.C. Lottery Corporation decided to increase the jackpot cap to $60 million, beginning July 17.
Friday evening’s Lotto Max draw also includes an estimated 30 Max Million $1 million dollar prizes. Coupled with Saturday’s $35 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot, an estimated $120 million of lottery winnings are up for grabs this weekend.
No one has won the $50-million jackpot in the Lotto Max draw for the past three Fridays, increasing the amount of this evening’s draw.
And there are more mysteries surrounding the lottery. In April 2015, a mysterious $50-million winner from Langley famously didn’t come forward until days before the one-year claim deadline – potentially missing out on $900,000 in interest.
