Homicide investigators have confirmed the identity of a young man found dead outside of a Burnaby apartment complex.

The body of Abdul Sarwari, 23, was discovered outside of a building in the 3900-block of Carrigan Court Monday night after police received a report of a shooting.

First responders at the scene said they believed Sarwari, who lived in the building, may have fallen from several floors above.

Sarwari’s exact cause of death has not been confirmed, but police have deemed it suspicious. An autopsy is expected this week.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case, and are searching for a suspect and any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time.
