The earth is still moving off B.C.'s west coast.

The Geological Survey of Canada says a quake measuring 4.2 hit just after 11 last night in the waters just west of Haida Gwaii.

The shaker is considered an aftershock from the 6.6 quake that struck off the northern tip of Vancouver Island shortly after 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last night's earthquake was about 10 kilometres below the earth's crust and was not strong enough to cause damage or injuries -- but it was felt in Queen Charlotte City and in several nearby communities.
