A man is recovering in hospital after falling about seven metres at the Nordstrom construction site on Granville Street Thursday afternoon.

WorkSafe BC said the worker was trying to climb down from the building’s roof on some scaffolding when an unsecured midrail came loose around 1 p.m.

Emergency crews were called to the scene and a large crane was used to lower him to safety.

The BC Ambulance Service said he was in stable condition when he was taken to Vancouver General Hospital.

Nordstrom, a high-end U.S. retailer, expects to open its Vancouver store in 2015.
