Vancouver police issued a public warning Thursday about an ex-convict who has broken the terms of his parole.

Stephen Curtis Smith is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for failing to return to his Vancouver-area halfway house on October 20th.

He is currently on parole for manslaughter.

Smith is described as a 32-year-old white male, 5-11 tall, 202 lbs. with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has a tattoo of barbed wire on his left upper arm and scars on his left eye, stomach, and right arm.

"The public can be instrumental in finding these individuals," Const. Jana McGuinness said Thursday. "They are the eyes of the police."

Anyone who sees Smith is instructed to call 911 immediately. Anyone with information on his whereabouts can contact the Vancouver Police Department at 604-717-3099.
