A suspect is in custody after a 45-year-old man was stabbed multiple times during a confrontation in Richmond.
A man rang the doorbell at the Williams Road property looking for a woman who lived there on Wednesday afternoon, a witness told CTV News. When her roommate answered the door instead, the men got into an argument.
RCMP said the victim and the other man knew each other. The man stabbed the victim several times in the face and abdomen before fleeing the scene.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but Mounties said he’s expected to survive.
Police said the suspect, described as a white man with a shaved head and "extensive arm tattoos," fled the area in a silver Mercedes Benz convertible. A suspect was tracked down by police shortly after 6:30 p.m., and taken into custody.
Jason Curtiss Billing, 35, of Surrey, has been charged with aggravated assault as a result of the investigation.
People who live in the area said it’s a nice neighbourhood, and they’re shocked to hear of such a violent crime so close to home.
The roommate the attacker was looking for has been kicked out of the home.
