B.C. Mounties are now booking flights in the Con-Air program, which police in Vancouver and Victoria have been using to ship accused criminals back to the provinces in which they are wanted.

Surrey RCMP say 29-year-old Greg Demky had outstanding warrants for breach of probation in Winnipeg and drug and firearm charges in Banff, but the warrants didn't extend to B.C. so they couldn't arrest him.

The Mounties decided to work with police and court officials in Winnipeg to get the warrants extended to B.C. and share the costs of flying Demky back to Manitoba.

Once all that was worked out, they arrested Demky and escorted him to Winnipeg, where he remains in custody.
