Surrey RCMP have identified the 51-year-old Surrey man who was murdered at his home early Sunday morning.

Investigators with B.C.'s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team confirmed that Donald Robert Reid was killed in what they believe to be a targeted attack.

Sgt. Peter Thiessen said the deceased was found suffering from severe wounds just before 2 a.m. outside the home he rented in the 300 block of 172nd Avenue in Surrey.

Reid, who was known to police, later died in hospital.

Investigators with IHIT say they have determined there was a small marijuana grow-op on the property and it appears that the homicide is drug-related.

No arrests have been made. Investigators and support units hope to complete the crime scene examination Tuesday.

Anyone with information on the death is asked to contact the IHIT tip line at 1-800-551-4448.
