A cheese company in B.C.’s Interior is voluntarily recalling a number of its products over Listeria fears.
Evidence of the bacteria showed up during a routine check of the grated cheese products at Castle Cheese in Lumby, east of Vernon.
The affected products include Okanagan’s Choice Cheese grated cheddar cheese products with July expiry dates, and grated parmesan with expiry dates in January 2015.
No illnesses have been linked to eating the cheese, which was sold in B.C., Alberta and Manitoba.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is conducting a food safety investigation of the facility, and says more products could be added to the recall list.
The agency says food contaminated with Listeria may not smell or taste spoiled but can still make you sick.
