PENTICTON, B.C - Penticton RCMP are now turning their attention to tracing the movements of the 35-year-old man arrested Wednesday for a 12-hour attack on a young Penticton mother.
Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says investigators want to hear from anyone who may have picked up a hitchhiking David Wesley Bobbitt, offered him housing or seen him in their business.
Bobbitt was arrested Wednesday near Oliver, 45 kilometres south of Penticton, and appeared in court the next day, charged with attempted murder.
Moskaluk says police are also recommending charges of aggravated sexual assault and unlawful confinement, but those charges are still being considered by the Crown.
A 22-year-old woman who can't be identified is recovering from various injuries, including severe cuts to her head after she was sexually assaulted in front of her toddler and held in a Penticton second-hand store last Saturday and Sunday before her attacker fled.
Supporters are now rallying on the woman's behalf and a Facebook page asking for donations for a trust fund has already raised $4,000.
