The long-awaited report from a public inquiry into Robert Dziekanski's death at Vancouver's airport will be released Friday.

A retired B.C. judge spent much of last year hearing evidence about what happened in October 2007 when the would-be immigrant died on the airport floor after being stunned multiple times with an RCMP Taser.

The inquiry delved into everything from Dziekanski's interaction with airport staff and customs officers, to the performance of firefighters and paramedics called to help him after he collapsed.

But the public debate over the case has focused on the actions of the four officers summoned to the scene after he began throwing furniture, and stunned him with a Taser within seconds of their arrival.

The RCMP's complaints commissioner released a report last year that concluded the four officers' use of the Taser was "inappropriate" and their subsequent explanations weren't credible.

Dziekanski's mother settled a lawsuit against the RCMP earlier this year after the force apologized, although the details of the settlement have never been made public.
