Across the country, Canadians will pause at 11 a.m. on the 11th day of the 11th month to remember those who have served the country in times of war and peace.
From Whistler to Chilliwack, here's for a round-up of events planned in B.C.'s Lower Mainland honouring more than 2.3 million Canadians who have served and 118,000 who made the ultimate sacrifice. Scroll down or click here to view the events on an interactive map.
CTV Vancouver will be airing a Remembrance Day special starting at 10:30 a.m. for those unable to attend ceremonies in person. The special will also be streamed on our website.
Whistler
10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – A colour party and parade will march along Village Gate Boulevard. When the parade is over, a service will be held at the Whistler Cenotaph at the fire hall on Village Gate.
The service includes a children's chorus, poetry reading, wreath presentation, helicopter fly over, bugle calls and moment of silence. Coffee and hot chocolate will be served after the service.
West Vancouver
10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – A public service will be held at the Memorial Arch in Memorial Park, located on Marine Drive between 19th and 20th Streets.
North Vancouver
10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – A ceremony and service will be held at the Victoria Park Cenotaph at Keith Road and Lonsdale Avenue.
Vancouver
10 a.m. – A ceremony and parade will be held in downtown Vancouver, beginning at the cenotaph at Victory Square on West Hastings and Cambie Streets.
The ceremony includes performances by a youth choir, Vancouver Fire and Rescue and the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, the Last Post, two minutes of silence and a 21-gun salute.
The Royal Canadian Air Force will conduct a fly by and wreaths will be laid before a parade leaves the cenotaph.
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Mountain View Cemetery is hosting a day of remembrance and music at its Celebration Hall. Archival photos of Canadian Forces will be on display and a choir, orchestra and brass band will perform at the event.
Richmond
10:20 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – A military parade will march to the official ceremony at Richmond City Hall. The event includes two minutes of silence, wreath-laying and a free public reception. Those unable to attend in person can watch a livestream of the event on the city's website.
Delta
10:15 a.m. – A parade will march from the Legion at 4896 Delta St. to the Cenotaph at Memorial Park, for a ceremony beginning at 10:45.
10:40 a.m. – A ceremony will be held in the North Delta Social Heart Plaza on 84 Avenue, with reception to follow.
Burnaby
10:30 a.m. – A parade begins at the Safeway parking lot at 4440 Hastings St., and ends at Confederation Park. A ceremony will be hosted at the North Burnaby Cenotaph beginning at 11 a.m.
10:30 a.m. – A separate parade beginning at the fire hall on Marlborough Avenue will lead a group to Bonsor Park, where a ceremony will follow starting at 11 at the cenotaph.
New Westminster
10:30 a.m. – An outdoor service will be held at the cenotaph located in front of City Hall.
Port Moody
10 a.m. to 10 p.m. – A non-denominational service will be held at the Kyle Centre, followed by a parade to the Arts Centre where a ceremony will be hosted including a cannon salute.
The Kyle Centre will then offer a buffet, refreshments and performances from 12:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Coquitlam
9:45 a.m. – The Royal Canadian Legion will host a traditional ceremony at the Blue Mountain Park cenotaph. A parade follows, ending at the cenotaph on Veterans Way.
A service at the cenotaph starts at 11 a.m., followed by another parade to the legion on Ridgeway Avenue. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren are invited to march with the veterans. Lunch will be provided for a fee, followed by live music and other activities.
Port Coquitlam
9:30 a.m. – The Wilson Centre will host an indoor service, which will be followed by a parade to the service at the cenotaph in Veterans Park, which begins at 11 a.m. outdoors.
Surrey
10:45 a.m. – A family-friendly ceremony put on by the city's cemetery services and the Canadian Military Education Centre at the Surrey Centre Cemetery will include wreath-laying and a moment of silence.
Poppies and Canadian flags will be provided for the public to lay on the graves of more than 500 veterans, and experts and vintage military vehicles will be at the event. Hot dogs and refreshments will be provided after the event.
White Rock
9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. - An annual parade begins at Roper Avenue and Johnston Road, and ends at the First United Church on Fir Street. A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the cenotaph next to White Rock City Hall from 11 a.m. to noon.
Township of Langley
10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Ceremonies involving parades and cenotaph services are being held in Aldergrove, Langley, Fort Langley and Murrayville.
Pitt Meadows
10:30 a.m. to noon – Remembrance Day events in Pitt Meadows include a parade, prayer, the Last Post and placement of wreaths hosted at the cenotaph in Spirit Square on Harris Road. A reception with light snacks and warm beverages follows at the Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre.
Maple Ridge
10:30 a.m. – A parade into the downtown area will be held before a ceremony at the cenotaph at Memorial Peace Park. The ceremony includes a reading of names of soldiers from the community who have died in wars, a blessing and a lowering of the flags.
Mission
10 a.m. to 11 a.m. – A parade begins at Ecole des Deaux Rives on Stave Lake Street, followed by a service in the Clarke Theatre starting at 10:40. A social gathering will be held at the legion on Logan Avenue following the event.
Abbotsford
10:30 a.m. – Ceremonies will be held at Thunderbird Memorial Square and the ANAVETs Hall in Mt. Lehman.
Chilliwack
10:30 a.m. – Ceremonies are being hosted at the cenotaph at All Sappers Memorial Park and the downtown cenotaph at Main Street and Yale Road.
