SURREY, B.C. - RCMP investigators have turned to tattoos in a bid to identify a man shot in the head and left in critical condition in one of the latest shootings in Metro Vancouver.
The man was found in a Surrey, B.C., home last Friday night.

"The Surrey RCMP have been unable to identify the victim through conventional means and are now seeking the public's assistance," police said in a statement released along with pictures of the tattoos.

The pictures show only the man's arms and shoulder with medical tubing and tape crossing over the designs.

One tattoo, which covers much of the man's upper left arm, is a type of tribal design with Asian-style writing. A smaller tattoo, with an Asian symbol in the centre, decorates his right shoulder blade.

A tattoo of a man's face covers most of his right forearm.

Police describe the victim as being aboriginal or South Asian, in his mid- to late-20s, 5' 8", 92 kilos, and clean shaven with black hair in a brush cut.

The Vancouver region has been rocked by almost 20 shootings over the last several weeks, eight of them fatal.
