The public is invited to submit their condolences online after the passing of two RCMP service dogs that lost their lives in separate instances within 24 hours.

Bo (Bowden) and Bear (Barry) both died while on-duty in Metro Vancouver and were less than three years old.

Early Tuesday morning, police dog Bo was killed in a car crash while en route to a theft-in-progress in Richmond, B.C.

Bear died Tuesday night after being hit by a car crossing Lougheed Highway while chasing a suspect in a home invasion.

"We are all saddened with the tragic loss of one of our police service dogs," Cpl. Alanna Dunlop said in a statement.

"They all add so much to the public's safety… We have lost one of our own, and we owe this dedicated police dog our deepest respect, and gratitude."

Messages left on the RCMP website will be shared with the handlers.
