Plows have cleared the weekend's snow away from Metro Vancouver's major routes, but officials say parked cars are making it difficult to service some residential areas.
Port Moody was one of the communities hardest hit by the snowstorm, and certain side streets remained a slippery mess Tuesday evening.
Mayor Mike Clay said one issue is all the motorists who have been parked in the same spot since the weekend, forcing plowing operators to work around them.
"We got into a real jam," Clay said.
"Our streets have all been narrowed up now because people were parked, so every street up on the hills here is probably down to one lane."
The snow has been melting away in many areas, but in others it remains piled up around parked vehicles.
"We're looking at whether we can take a front-end loader to some of the neighbourhoods and dig out some of the snow," Clay said.
Parking on side streets is allowed by Port Moody bylaws, so towing vehicles isn't an option.
And the city isn't the only one with cars buried under snow; dozens of vehicles in Coquitlam and the North Shore won't be going anywhere for a while either.
