As the seventh anniversary of Wendy Ladner-Beaudry’s murder approaches, her family is offering a new $30,000 reward for information that helps police find her killer.

Ladner-Beaudry was attacked in broad daylight while jogging in the southeast corner of Vancouver’s Pacific Spirit Park on April 3, 2009. The married mother-of-two was 53.

Despite an exhaustive search and numerous tips from the public, her killer has never been identified, and on Friday her family made a tearful plea for help bringing the person responsible to justice.

“Help us solve this horrible crime,” her brother, former city councilor Peter Ladner, said at a press conference.

“Had she been alive, Wendy would have turned 60 on Wednesday. We would have been feeling her presence as a wise mother, a loving wife, compassionate sister, a loyal friend, a cheerful mentor, a dedicated community member.”

Ladner said his sister’s husband, Michel Beaudry, remains too overwhelmed by the loss to speak publicly about the murder. Beaudry did provide a statement begging the public to help provide closure for him and his daughters.

“She’s gone forever, and the toll on our lives has been terrible, for Wendy is no longer here to challenge us, to make us laugh, to help us see the world as the positive, happy place she always believed it was,” it read.

“My sleep is tortured, my dreams are full of questions. Who could have done this to my caring, beautiful, intelligent spouse? Who could have taken her life with such casual disregard?”

Beaudry was ruled out as a suspect in the case in 2009.

The RCMP has already exhausted hundreds of tips investigating Ladner-Beaudry’s murder, but Staff Sgt. Wayne Clary of the Major Crimes Section said investigators believe there’s still someone out there with crucial information.

“This is a terrible crime and one that must weigh on a person’s mind, whether they know a bit of information or know who may have involvement in the commission of this crime,” Clary said.

“If you have not yet spoken to police and can now recall new information, please call us. Let the police make the determination on whether your information is valuable in the investigation.

The $30,000 reward will be only be provided if police can arrest a suspect and Crown approves criminal charges against that individual. It will expire roughly one year from now, on March 31, 2017.

Peter Ladner acknowledged how fortunate the family is to be able to put up such a large sum, and for Ladner-Beaudry’s murder to have received so much attention. He urged anyone with information relating to any of the missing and murdered women cases across Canada to also contact police.

Anyone with tips on the case can contact the RCMP’s Major Crimes Section tip line at 778-290-5291, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS to remain anonymous.
