The suspect in a Cloverdale murder could be driving a stolen SUV, according to police.
Police have been searching for suspect Barry McQuarrie for four days and said he may be driving a 2008 Toyota Highlander with licence plate 338 JNP.
Homicide investigators released a photo of the vehicle Friday. Police believe McQuarrie was previously in a 2010 KIA Borrego but that car was found torched in South Surrey Wednesday morning.
Sgt. Adam MacIntosh of the Integrated Homicide Investigation team said McQuarrie is likely still in Metro Vancouver and someone may be helping him evade police.
“I would suggest he’s hiding,” MacIntosh said. “He’s charged with a number of offences, there’s warrants for his arrest [and] he’s going to have to deal with them at some point. So we want him to turn himself in.”
McQuarrie, 33, is wanted on outstanding warrants unrelated to the Cloverdale murder.
Gregory Quesnelle, 32, died of gunshot wounds early Monday morning. Quesnelle was found in a townhouse in the Surrey, B.C. neighbourhood. Police believe the homicide was related to an ongoing domestic dispute.
If you see the suspect, do not approach him, and call 911. McQuarrie is considered armed and dangerous.
